The FATA Assicurazioni project, in collaboration with Self Globe, aimed at contributing to the rebirth of the Ugandan people after 30 years of wars, has finally been realized. The Self Globe Group has led to the construction of a rabbit farm in the Moyo district
, putting the local people in condition of building and running a farm, raising and improving the zoo-technical production, improving the nutrition level and the social and economic life, involving the ex-combat boys and the young women in the rural area.
The initiative has covered the construction of the warehouse, the supply of cages and tools, the staff training, the purchase of animals and the put in use of the slaughtering line.
The various phases of the activities were followed by on-site inspections by the Project Coordinator and our specialized technicians.
Support and satisfaction have been manifested by the highest local authorities that, thanks to the exemplary commitment of Father Natalino Vura – always on the forefront for the recovery of former children soldiers – have immediately shared the prospects of the project.
To date, the number of rabbits has reached about 4000. Many people come to the Moyo Rabbit Center even from a range of 50-60 kilometers far away, considered by everyone as a model of breeding center.
Currently, 5 people work in the center and many others work in the production line.
The center is expected to have enough rabbits by the end of next year to extend its sales to markets and supermarkets in the area and expand it to Kampala (500 km).
